River Revitalisation workshop

Zvolen, Slovakia • 3-4 September 2014

'First announcement' of the River Revitalisation workshop planned for 3 to 4 September 2014, in Zvolen, Slovakia. This workshop has been developed as a follow-up action from the Freshwater Group's discussions during the Alpine Biogeographical Seminar, held in Graz, Austria in November 2013.

We would like to warmly recommend this workshop and kindly request your support to promote the event to relevant experts and practitioners in your countries active in river restoration and management of freshwater habitats.  This workshop is open to their direct involvement: experts will be able to discuss and present the work of their organisations engaged in practical river restoration projects or, for example, in relation to the Water Framework Directive.  Their practice-based insights to appropriate habitat management measures and experience in delivering nature conservation priorities for freshwater habitats and species will be especially valuable.  Networking through the workshop will enable them to gain new ideas and also to share their experiences, as that is required to achieve favourable conservation status.

Individual experts, with case studies or projects that they would be willing to present in the programme, or via the Knowledge Market, should not hesitate to let us know by email to: Natura2000Platform@ecnc.org   This is also the email address to register participation generally.

As the programme details develop, the most recent version can be accessed from the following link on the Natura 2000 Platform: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/nature/natura2000/platform/events/events-upcoming/128_alpine_freshwater_habitats_river_revitalisation_en.htm
